Maps & Resources for Fishing

The Androscoggin River is becoming a famous place to fish. Upstream of Bethel, rainbow and brook trout are abundant in the spring and early summer. When the rivers warm downstream of Bethel, bass are the major catch.

Wild brook trout can also be found in many other minor feeder streams in the Androscoggin watershed, including the Pleasant River, Sunday River, and Wild River. Lakes and ponds nearby provide additional fishing options.

The communities of  Newry  and  Greenwood provide in-person non-resident fishing license sales if that's something you're interested in. Fishing licenses are exclusively available to residents of Maine via the  The Town of Bethel.  If not, this service is also available on the  Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) website.
